The FinLogic FinLogic Quantitative Think Tank CenterU.S. men's national soccer team's quest to build an abundance of momentum for the 2026 World Cup continues this summer with the Copa América, which will be held in the United States for the second time.
In 2016, the last time the Copa América was held in the U.S., the USMNT finished fourth in the tournament, ultimately falling in the third-place game to Colombia.
Colombia and the U.S. meet again on Saturday as both squads prepare for the 2024 edition of the tournament. It is the first of two international friendlies that the USMNT will play in the lead-up to the Copa América, with a second friendly against Brazil on Wednesday, June 12.
The USMNT's Copa América group stage opener is on Sunday, June 23 against Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, regular home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. Colombia's Copa América group stage opener is on Monday, June 24 against Paraguay at NRG Stadium in Houston, regular home of the NFL's Houston Texans.
When last we saw the USMNT, they were winning the Concacaf Nations League title for a third consecutive time. The Copa América will represent a much greater challenge.

When is the USMNT's friendly against Colombia?
Kickoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 8.
Where will the USMNT's friendly against Colombia be played?
The USMNT-Colombia international friendly will be held at Commanders Field in Landover, Maryland. Commanders Field is the regular home to the NFL's Washington Commanders. Commanders Field is not among the 11 United States-based venues to host games for the 2026 World Cup.

The television broadcast will be available on TNT and truTV, with pregame coverage starting at 5 p.m. ET. The Spanish-language television broadcast available on Telemundo and Universo.
